The answer is yes! When creating the page, you can set an expiration date for the content using the unavailable_after meta tag. The use of this tag is especially recommended on large sites and e-commerce , where it becomes difficult to manually manage all the pages.

There are several options to choose from: delete it permanently, turn it into a draft, or change its category.

One could say that there is no absolute answer regarding the management of expired content: it all depends on the type of site and the relevance of its content. There are also cases in which it is necessary to opt for a specific choice, and others in which you could consider a combination of the different management methods . For example, as recommended by John Mueller in a 2017 hangout, you could consider leaving the page online for a certain period of time, in order to capture all those people who may still be interested in the content, and then move to a 301 redirect to a more relevant page or a 410 status code, when the results start to be no longer relevant compared to the negative impact that scanning these pages could have on the crawl budget.
